George River Solo 2018

Day 28
Start Time: 8/11/2018 0:00 PM
Duration: 0:00
Distance / Total (km): 0 / 335.1

The rain started to taper off in the late morning, by noon it was over. The wind continued to some extent. At 1:00pm after 24 hours in the tent I finally crawled out and moved to the Pod that was remarkably just as I left it.

Time for breakfast, 3 eggs and bacon with multiple mugs of tea. On to thoughts of departure, the wind had been dying which was encouraging but a little before 3:00pm they returned which led me to rethink the idea, why pack up and then struggle to make progress only to find a camp at sunset (or worse). The forecast calls for cloud and wind to continue, by morning the direction is likely to change from northwest (bad) to southwest (much better) with only a slight chance of rain in the late afternoon. I decided not to decide anything for another hour, by that time there was so few hours remaining that breaking camp to paddle for 2 – 3 hours made no sense at all. Much better to wait until tomorrow, get an early start and spend a long day on the water.

Back to the Marmot, try for an early night!
