Bloodvein River Solo 2015

Wednesday July 29 - Day 3

Time: 0 Hours

Distance: 0 km

It was mostly calm in the morning, a bit of rain fell overnight and the temperature fell to 16. It was mostly cloudy with some small patches of blue sky. I was unsure of my plan for the day so I went back to sleep until 10:00 when two small motorboats woke me up as they went passed my camp. The forecast called for rain so I figured it could be awhile before leaving camp. I made tea & oatmeal as a light rain started, the motorboats passed by again on their way home I presume, not very dedicated!

I wanted to move on but didn’t see the point until the weather improved, it’s the luxury of having all the time I want. It had reached 25 before the rain but now had fallen back to 20. I decided to wait it out, if it clears by 4:00 I’ll move on, if not I’ll stay here for another night and try to get on the water really early tomorrow. The skies remained grey, the wind picked up again and now from the west. I’m somewhat sheltered by the hill behind the camp so it seems less than yesterday at this time (7:00pm). I’ve nibbled a bit but it was time to think about a “proper” meal. At 8:00pm I made a bag of Alpine Aire Mountain Chili but couldn’t finish it all! The cloud at last seemed to be breaking up, the sun lighting up bits of the far shore, a good indicator for tomorrow I hope.
