George River Solo 2018

Day 30
Start Time: 8/13/2018 0:00 PM
Duration: 0:00
Distance / Total (km): 0 / 372.7

I hardly slept, the wind was blowing hard, I kept looking out at the Pod to see how it was handling things. At 5:30am, I decided the best thing might be to take it down. The forecast predicts 38kmph winds by midday; clearly, I will not be attempting to move on to Wedge Point under that type of headwind. Before the Pod came down, I make some tea, gathered edibles for the day and secured my gear. Now I could move to the Marmot and sleep in peace.

Every few hours I would poke my head outside to have a look at the waves and white caps, frustrating being stuck yet again as it was otherwise a nice partly sunny day. Any seconds thoughts about the layover put to rest when sudden gusts of wind shook the tent. For lunch I had a tuna wrap and fresh tea, gave a brief thought to visiting the weather station remnants but I lacked the motivation, getting to it involved a short paddle there and back and bashing through a wall of alders, seemed like an energy waste, been there, done that in 2010 (pictures below prove that). I had a 5 hour nap, woke to eat more snacks and then back to sleep.
