Bloodvein River Solo 2015

Saturday Aug 1 – Day 6

Time: 0 hours

Distance: 0 km

Skies had been mostly clear overnight and fairly warm, as daylight returned the clouds rolled in, by 9:30 it was raining and this continued for several hours while I continued to sleep. I finally got up around 12:30, no sign of a break in the weather; I made a lunch of soup and chicken wraps and hung out. I wasn’t in the mood for wet paddling plus it had become somewhat windy even here away from the main lake.

I Spent the day waiting for the sun to come and/or the wind to go away....neither ever happened!

By 3:00pm a bit of blue sky, I considered moving to a different site but the wind didn’t inspire, the alternative was to stay here another night and start to make the return trip to Artery Lake tomorrow. Around 4:00pm I made the decision to stay put, good decision as the rain returned within an hour and along with it strong winds from the west which didn’t bode well for the following day. By dusk the wind had died and the cloud cover had thinned considerably, I had a few snacks and made it an early night. I plan to leave tomorrow morning regardless of conditions.
